They could limit artistic freedom, overly complicate the organizational structure, and lead to conflicts. Particularly concerning is the proposed strengthening of the management over the artistic direction, which could jeopardize independent artistic design.
No Codes of Conduct!
Hans Eichel criticizes the proposals for implementing Codes of Conduct at documenta as a restriction of artistic freedom. He emphasizes that all contributions, including those accused of antisemitism, were within the scope of the Basic Law and had no legal consequences. The recommendations of a management consultancy would undermine artistic freedom and creativity, and deprive documenta of its provocative and questioning role.
